Physical properties:colorless or white crystals, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and methanol, slightly soluble in acetone, insoluble in ether. Gradually decomposed into ammonium bisulfate in aqueous solution, solubility in water: 146.8 g/l (20 C), melting point 215-225 C.
Chemical properties:Colorless orthorhombic crystals or white crystals. Odorless. Soluble in water, liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol, ether organic solvents and carbon disulfide, liquid sulfite. Aqueous solutions are highly ionized. Strong acid. The salt is soluble in water (except alkaline mercury salts). Its aqueous solution is hydrolyzed to ammonium sulfate when boiling.

The solid sulfamic acid has good stability at dry room temperature, is non hygroscopic, non-volatile, soluble in water, can ionize in aqueous solution, and is moderately acidic. It can be used as acid standard solution for alkali titration. It is slightly soluble or insoluble in organic solvents, insoluble in ether, soluble in liquid nitrogen, ethanol, formamide and acetone. Because of its excellent properties, it is widely used in acid washing agents, stabilizers, sulfonating agents, denitrifiers, disinfectants, flame retardants, herbicides, synthetic sweeteners and catalysts.
