Acetaldehyde
CAS:75-07-0
Molecular formula:C2H4O
Molecular weight:44.05
Structure:
Physicochemical properties: Acetaldehyde, molecular formula CH3CHO. Colorless and easily flowing liquid. It has a pungent and pungent smell. Relative density 0.783 (18 / 4 ℃), melting point - 121 ℃, boiling point 20.8 ℃. Soluble in water, ethanol, ether, chloroform, etc. It is flammable and volatile, and its vapor and air will form an explosive mixture, with an explosion limit of 4.0 ~ 5.70% (volume). It is easy to oxidize to acetic acid. It is easy to polymerize into trimeric acetaldehyde under the action of concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid.
Product application: The largest user of acetaldehyde is the acetic acid industry. Butanol and octanol were also important derivatives of acetaldehyde in the past, but now they have been basically replaced by propylene carbonyl synthesis. Other consumption areas of acetaldehyde are the production of pentaerythritol, peracetic acid, pyridine and its derivatives. Acetaldehyde produced in China is basically used as an intermediate for the production of acetic acid, and only a small amount is used to produce pentaerythritol, butanol, Trichloroacetaldehyde, trimethylolpropane and other products. Acetaldehyde can be used to produce acetal, crotonaldehyde, peracetic acid, hydroxypropiononitrile, Trichloroacetaldehyde, ethyl acetate, pentaerythritol, acetic anhydride, acetic acid, glyoxal, phenylacrolein, acetal, methylethylamine, diethylamine α- Alanine, pyridine α- Methyl pyridine β- Methyl pyridine γ- Methyl pyridine.
This product is mainly used to prepare important chemical raw materials such as acetic acid, acetic anhydride, butyraldehyde, octanol, pentaerythritol and trimeric acetaldehyde.
