Atorvastatin calcium

Atorvastatin calcium is an inhibitor of HMG CoA reductase. Mainly by inhibiting the synthesis of HMGCoA reductase, so as to inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol in the body and reduce the content of serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride. Because atorvastatin calcium inhibits the synthesis of cholesterol by cells, interferes with the production of lipoprotein, reduces the level of serum total cholesterol, effectively reduces the level of serum triglyceride and increases the level of serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. It can reduce the plasma LDL cholesterol level of some homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia patients, and this type of population has little response to other lipid-lowering drugs. It is clinically used for primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed hyperlipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis.
