Dioctyl Phthalate
Application of Dioctyl Phthalate:
This product is the most widely used plasticizer. In addition to cellulose acetate and polyvinyl acetate, it has good compatibility with most synthetic resins and rubber used in industry. This product has good comprehensive performance, good mixing performance, high plasticizing efficiency, low volatility, good low-temperature softness, water extraction resistance, high electrical performance, good heat resistance and weather resistance.
Dioctyl phthalate is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid with special smell. Its boiling point is 386 ℃, and its relative density is 0.980 ~ 0.983 (20 / 4 ℃). It is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It is prepared from phthalic anhydride and monoethyl hexanol through esterification reaction. It is one of the most widely used plasticizers in plastic processing. It has good comprehensive performance, high speed-up efficiency, low volatility, ultraviolet light resistance and cold resistance, which improves the softness and electrical properties of products. It is an ideal main plasticizer.
Basic information of Dioctyl Phthalate:
CAS:117-84-0
Molecular formula: C24H38O4
Molecular weight: 390.55
Structural type:
Di-n-octyl phthalate appears as a clear liquid with a mild odor. Slightly less dense than water and insoluble in water. Hence floats on water. Flash point 430°F. The primary hazard is the threat to the environment. Immediate steps should be taken to limit its spread to the environment. As a liquid, can easily penetrate the soil and contaminate groundwater and nearby streams. Eye contact may produce severe irritation and direct skin contact may produce mild irritation. Used in the manufacture of a variety of plastics and coating products.
