Description:
Lycopene is a natural pigment contained in plants. It mainly exists in the mature fruit of tomato. It is one of the strongest antioxidants found in plants in nature. Lycopene is also known as lycopene ψ— Carotene, belonging to isoprene compounds, is a kind of carotenoids. Science has proved that singlet oxygen and oxygen free radicals in the human body are the culprits against the human autoimmune system. Lycopene is much more effective in scavenging free radicals than other carotenoids and vitamin E. its rate constant of quenching singlet oxygen is 100 times that of vitamin E.
Lycopene is not only distributed in tomatoes, but also in the fruits of soft shelled turtle fruit, watermelon, pumpkin, plum, persimmon, pepper fruit, peach, papaya, mango, guava, grape, grapefruit, red berry, raspberry and citrus, the leaves of tea and the roots of radish, carrot, turnip and cabbage. Lycopene in tomato and its products is the main source of carotenoids in Western diet. Lycopene obtained from tomato accounts for more than 80% of the total intake.
