PLA is produced from corn, sugarcane, sugar beet and other crops by microbial fermentation and extraction, followed by dehydration, esterification, cyclization, purification and chain addition. PLA has excellent biodegradability. After being discarded, it can be completely degraded by microorganisms in the soil in a short time to produce CO2 and water without polluting the environment. PLA itself is an aliphatic polyester, which has the basic characteristics of general polymer materials and has good physical properties and mechanical processing properties. It can be competent for the use of most synthetic plastics. It is widely used in downstream products and application fields such as food contact packaging, tableware, straw, film bag packaging, fiber, fabric, 3D printing materials and so on.
