The two tautomers are in dynamic equilibrium, with keto form accounting for about 18% and enol form accounting for 82%. Acetylacetone is soluble in water, ethanol, benzene, chloroform, ether, acetone, ethyl acetate and glacial acetic acid. Acetylacetone is an important intermediate in organic synthesis, which is widely used in pharmaceutical, perfume, pesticide and other industries. Acetylacetone is an important raw material in pharmaceutical industry, such as the synthesis of 4,6-dimethylpyrimidine derivatives.
