Meropenem, or meropenem, is a very broad antibacterial and injectable antibiotic used to treat a variety of different infections, including meningitis and pneumonia. It's a β Lactam antibiotics belong to the classification of carbapenem.
1. Combined with probenecid can reduce the plasma clearance of meropenem and prolong the half-life of meropenem.
2. When used with live typhoid vaccine, it may interfere with the immune response of live typhoid vaccine.
3. It is reported that the plasma concentration of antiepileptic drugs can be reduced when combined with antiepileptic drugs.
4. Incompatibility with zidovudine, ondansetron, multivitamins, doxycycline, diazepam, calcium gluconate and acyclovir.
Meropenem is an anti infective drug, which is applicable to the infection of adults and children caused by single or multiple bacteria sensitive to meropenem. It is the first choice for severe nosocomial infection, mixed infection dominated by G-bacteria, multi drug resistant bacterial infection and enzyme producing bacterial infection. Pneumonia includes hospital acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infection, gynecological infection (such as endometritis and pelvic inflammation), skin and soft tissue infection, meningitis and sepsis.
