SF6 gas description
Sulfur hexafluoride is a colorless, odorless, nontoxic and incombustible stable gas. Its molecular weight is 146.07, and its density is 6.1kg/m3 at 20 ℃ and 0.1 MPa, about 5 times that of air. Sulfur hexafluoride is gaseous under normal temperature and pressure. Its critical temperature is 45.6 ℃, the three-phase point temperature is -50.8 ℃, and the sublimation point temperature under normal pressure is -63.8 ℃. The molecular structure of sulfur hexafluoride is octahedral, with small bonding distance and high bonding energy, so its stability is very high. When the temperature does not exceed 180 ℃, its compatibility with electrical structural materials is similar to that of nitrogen.
Main uses of sulfur hexafluoride
1. A new generation of ultra-high voltage dielectric materials. As a good gas insulator, it is widely used in the gas insulation of electronic and electrical equipment. Electronic grade high-purity sulfur hexafluoride is an ideal electronic etchant, which is widely used in the field of microelectronics technology as a plasma etchant and cleaning agent in the manufacture of large-scale integrated circuits such as computer chips and liquid crystal screens. It is used as a fluorine source for the production of fluorine doped glass in the preparation of optical fibers, and as a dopant for the isolation layer in the manufacture of low loss high-quality single-mode optical fibers. It can also be used as doping gas for nitrogen excimer lasers. Used as tracer, standard gas or preparation of standard mixture in meteorological, environmental testing and other departments. It is used as insulation material for arc extinguishing and large capacity transformer in high voltage switch. It can also be used in particle accelerators and lightning arresters. Because of its good chemical stability and no corrosion to equipment, it can be used as a refrigerant in the refrigeration industry (operating temperature - 45~0 ℃).
