Brief Introduction
Potassium tert butyl alcohol is an important organic base, which is more basic than potassium hydroxide. Because of the induction effect of (CH3) 3Co trimethyl group, it has stronger basicity and activity than other potassium alcohols, so it is a good catalyst. In addition, as a strong base, potassium TERT butoxide is widely used in chemical industry, medicine, pesticide and other organic synthesis, such as transesterification, condensation, rearrangement, polymerization, ring opening and the production of heavy metal orthoesters. It can be used to catalyze Michael addition, pinacol rearrangement and Ramberg Backlund rearrangement; Potassium TERT butoxide can be used as a condensation agent to catalyze Darzens condensation and STOBBE condensation; It is also the most effective base in the traditional alkoxide haloform reaction for the formation of dihalogenated carbenes. Therefore, potassium tert butyl alcohol is more and more favored by chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide and other industries. Potassium TERT butoxide is widely used, so there is a great demand for high purity potassium TERT butoxide at home and abroad. However, the production cost of potassium tert butyl alcohol is higher than that of other alkali metal alkoxides, and the production technology needs to be improved.
