P-methoxybenzaldehyde is a colorless to yellowish liquid with hawthorn like odor at room temperature. It is slightly soluble in propylene glycol and glycerin, and easily soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, acetone and chloroform. It can volatilize with water vapor. In nature, it exists in fennel oil, fennel oil, dill oil, Acacia flower and vanilla extract, and is obtained by oxidation separation. The product has a long-lasting Hawthorn aroma. It is the main spice in Hawthorn flower, sunflower and lilac flavor. It is used as a fragrance agent in lily of the valley.
