Diphenyl ether - Properties
Colorless crystal or liquid. Flammable. Low toxicity. It has the smell of eucalyptus oil. Soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene and glacial acetic acid, insoluble in water, inorganic acid solution and alkali solution. The relative density is 1.0863. Freezing point 27 ℃. Melting point 28 ℃. Boiling point 258 ℃. The refractive index is 1.5780. Flash point 115 ℃. The spontaneous combustion point is 617.8 ℃.
Diphenyl ether - Preparation method
Chlorobenzene and phenol are condensed in caustic soda solution in the presence of copper oxide catalyst to form diphenyl ether, which is refined by alkali washing and distillation.
Diphenyl ether - Application
Organic synthetic intermediates are widely used in the perfume industry, especially as perfumes for soap, and as raw materials for synthetic resins and other organic synthetic industries. Mixed with biphenyl, it is a good and safe high-temperature organic heat carrier in industry, and can be used for a long time at 350 ℃.
Diphenyl ether - Safety
Low toxicity. The maximum allowable concentration in the air of the workplace is 1 × 10-6。 Packed in iron drums, 200kg per barrel. Store and transport according to the regulations on toxic substances.
This product is used in the production of flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ether, high temperature heat carrier, perfume and dye, heat transfer medium and organic synthesis.
