Lithium Hexafluorophosphate
Formula: LiPF6
CAS No.: 21324-40-3
GHS Division Of Class:
Metal corrosion Level 1
Acute toxicity (through the mouth) Level 4
Acute toxicity (percutaneous) Level 3
Corrosion/skin stimulation IB
Serious injury/ irritation on eyes Level 1
Physical and chemical properties: LiPF6 is a white crystal or powder with a density of 1.50. It can easily be deloused, and it will absorb the moisture and decompose when the moisture content is more than 10 PPM. Its thermal stability is poor. It starts to decompose at 60 ℃, and it will depose 50% at 180 ℃.
Application range: LiPF6 is currently the most commonly used in lithium-ion battery electrolytes. Its performance has a close relationship with the battery charging, discharging performance and capacity.

Storage and package
Keep it in sealed containers; Stored in cool shade place; It should be stored in an inert gas environment, separated from moisture and heat. Storage space must be locked; It must be stored away from incompatible materials, such as the oxidant
According to the laws and regulations, the package must be corrosion-resistant materials. So it can only be stored in the original container.
White crystal or powder, relative density 1.50. Deliquescence is strong; It is easily soluble in water and also soluble in organic solvents such as low concentration methanol, ethanol, acetone and carbonate. Decompose when exposed to air or heated. When exposed to the air or heated, lithium hexafluorophosphate decomposes rapidly in the air due to the action of water vapor, releasing PF5 and producing white smoke. Lithium hexafluorophosphate is mainly used as electrolyte material for lithium ion battery. Lithium hexafluorophosphate electrolyte is mainly used in the manufacture of lithium ion batteries.
