Acyclovir is widely used to treat herpes virus infections, including herpes simplex virus (HSV) and herpes zoster virus (VZV) infections. It can inhibit the replication and transmission of the virus, alleviate skin and mucosal lesions caused by the virus, shorten the course of the disease, and reduce the onset of symptoms.
Acyclovir can also be used to prevent viral infection and anti rejection response in organ transplant patients. After organ transplantation, due to the use of immunosuppressants, the patient's immune system is relatively fragile and susceptible to herpes virus infection. Therefore, acyclovir can reduce the risk of viral infection.
Acyclovir is also one of the commonly used drugs for the treatment of chickenpox (chickenpox virus infection) in children. It can shorten the course of chickenpox, alleviate symptoms, and prevent the occurrence of complications.
