Scope of application:

Phenol is an important organic chemical raw material. It can be used to prepare chemical products and intermediates such as phenolic resin, caprolactam, bisphenol A, salicylic acid, picric acid, pentachlorophenol, 2,4-D, adipic acid, phenolphthalein n-acetoxyaniline. It has important applications in chemical raw materials, alkyl phenols, synthetic fibers, plastics, synthetic rubber, medicine, pesticides, spices, dyes, coatings, oil refining and other industries. In addition, phenol can also be used as solvent, experimental reagent and disinfectant. The aqueous solution of phenol can separate the protein and DNA on the chromosome in plant cells, which is convenient for DNA staining.

It can be liquefied when mixed with about 8% water. It can be miscible with water above 65 ℃ and is almost insoluble in petroleum ether.
