Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting sodium glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2), a protein in the kidney that reabsorbs glucose into the blood. This allows excess glucose to be excluded from the body through the urine, thereby improving blood glucose control without increasing insulin secretion.
