Acicular crystal. Melting point 37-38 ℃, boiling point 159-162 ℃ (0.133kpa), refractive index (nd20) 1.5299. Its hydrochloride ([1786-81-8]) is a white crystalline powder. Melting point 167-168 ℃. Soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform. It tastes sour, astringent and bitter without odor.

Pharmacological action:

Local anesthetics. The efficacy of this product is better than procaine. The intensity and speed of local anesthesia are similar to lidocaine, but the action time is longer, the toxicity is less, and the accumulation is less due to rapid metabolism. It is suitable for epidural anesthesia, conduction anesthesia and infiltration anesthesia.
